Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya arranged the activities to celebrate the Auspicious Occasion of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's 5th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 2 April 2015. The activities were divided into two sessions. The morning activity held at the Rajamangala sculpture was book alms activity for 10 border patrol police schools. Creating Educational Network— Recently, H.E. Mr. Rolf Peter Gottfried Schulze, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangkok attended the discussion, held at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, under the stream of vocational education cooperation between Thailand and Germany by applying the well-known German bilateral education system, integrating coursework along with real working skills, to develop Thai vocational education. Keropok has variety kinds of taste such as fish and shrimp tastes. These products are best sold at OTOP and fresh-food markets. The cooking tip is about the size of Keropok depending on a personal preference. If it is sliced in circle shape, we will get very crispy Keropok. If you like it crispy but soft inside, cut it thinker. Or if you want its taste like a French fries stick, just cut it in long piece. Keropok in the shape of French fries stick is very popular for tasters. However, speaking of cutting Keropok into the French fries shape, it quite takes long time and requires cooker’s expertise.

The process starts from cutting Keropok in the size of 50 millimeter. After that, put it into the cutting hole. Then, the sensor will detect whether there are any pieces of Keropok inside. After that, the system will command the pneumatic to push Keropok through the blade and then the blade will shape the Keropok into French-fries stick. "Arial","sans-serif"">

Second-Prize New Innovation Learning Media “Manora Dolls” Assisting Autistic Children for Their Better and Faster Learning

 

"Arial","sans-serif"">Mr. Palagorn Punmanee, lecturer at faculty of Agriculture, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Songkhla, has ideally invented Manora doll with 12 dancing styles (Manora is Thai traditional dancing commonly performed in the South.) It functions as learning media helping autistic children. When touching it, the children can act like the dolls. With its colorfulness, it also can attract the children’s interest. This innovation is, thus, regarded as a new dimension of learning resource integrated with traditional dancing. Apart from this, teachers teaching or transferring the art of Manora dancing can also apply this media as teaching material to help the students better and faster understand.

 

"Arial","sans-serif"">National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) "Arial","sans-serif""> has encouraged the works, inventions, and innovations created by Thai researchers and inventors including the work of Mr. Palagorn Punmanee to display in the exhibition held at Geneva, Switzerland, named “42nd International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva”. As it can raise and instill the students’ awareness towards the traditional culture and it hasn’t been created to help learning for a particular group, the work, therefore, won the second prize. font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Dr. Nuchalee Thipmonta, lecturer at Science program, General Education department, the Liberal Arts faculty, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) and her accompanies have established charity shop named “Op shop”. The Op shop stands for “Opportunity Shop”. The main aim is to help needy students who study at Chaimongkolwit school. Interested person can donate both first-hand and second-hand personal items and educational equipment. The shop is opened every Wednesday located at Chaimongkolwit school, Meaung district, Songkhla province, Thailand.

"Arial","sans-serif"">Many needy children in Thailand nowadays are waiting for lending a helping hand from sponsors, companies, and organizations who realize to the importance of education. That is to say, educational opportunity is imperative for the students. If they have enough supporting, they can be a good person though they undergo difficulty in life.

 

"Arial","sans-serif"">Chaimongkolwit school is located away from RMUTSV around 500 meters. The course is opened for elementary level. RMUTSV has been supporting for learning and teaching aids, renovating playground, as well as developing the school’s scenery, for example. Apart from this, many lecturers from RMUTSV frequently devote their time to teach the students. Therefore, the relationship between RMUTSV and Chaimongkolwit school is as relatives, but this is just a part. In fact, most students studying there are lack of educational fund; they live from hand to mouth.  Chaimongkolwit school, thus, provides a great opportunity for the students: free for tuition fee and lunch. Because of the policy (Everything is free), budget supporting daily expenses is very essential. Although the Op shop does not bring great money, it is hoped more or less helps the school and students.

This is because Chaimongkolwit school is a private school—providing free course, and the budget supported by the government is just enough for teacher’s salary. For this reason, Dr. Nuchalee Thipmonta and her accompanies, applied 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle as a way to gather and create income in order to help the school. That is to say, the 3 ways help the school worthily use the remain and donated equipment, materials, and personal items. Moreover, it can create stable income for the school.

 

"Arial","sans-serif"">Mr. Chob Bunchuay, the principal of Chaimongkolwit school, expressed the thankfulness to the lecturers of RMUTSV in helping and guiding the way to systematically manage and arrange the school’s activities, as well as suggesting Sufficiency Economy as guidance for living. It is believed that this guidance not only lead happiness to the school, but also create a stable foundation for the students, their family, and community. No matter the how the Economic crisis affected to them, if they live by considering Sufficiency Economy initiated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej as a guidance: no greed, economical living, diligence, patience, sharing, and harmony, they will have enough immunity to cope with coming problems.

   Academic Services Unit, RMUTSV has created modal farm for preserving Phom Nang Seaweed (Yam Sai), an outstanding Product of Koh Yo, Meuang, Songkhla from vanishing.

  

Academic Services Unit, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) has rehabitated Gracilaria Fisferi or Phom Nang seaweed, an outstanding plant of Koh Yo, Meuang, Songkhla. In doing so, the unit has built a modal farm for cultivating Phom Nang seaweed in fishery floating baskets, Koh Yo. This project was initiated by Dr. Somrak  Rodjaroen (head of the project), Asst. Prof. Apirak  Songrak, Asst. Prof. Chutinut Sujarit, Mr. Nikom  Onsri, Mr. Supawat Inkerd, and Ms. Kattinat Sagulsawasdipan, from the Faculty of Fisheries and Science Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya.

 

Phom Nang seaweed locally called Sai is regarded as a cash crop of Koh Yo, Songkhla. It is generally found in tidal and submerged areas, living by attaching to floating objects: seashells, gravels, for example. Besides, the seaweed is also used as one of the main ingredients of Yam-Sai-Koh-Yo or Phom Nang seaweed spicy salad, the local dish expressing the identity of this area. This unique dish is well created by the local wisdom of Koh Yo natives, so that it is promoted to be the quality product for visitors.

Not only its good taste, but the seaweed is also rich of protein, carbohydrate, dietary mineral, especially iodine and vitamin, for instance. Medically, it can be extracted for producing medicines treating gastritis, constipation, and goiter. Moreover, its jelly can be transformed for encapsulating medicine powder relieving those who suffer from gastroparesis, inflammatory bowel diseases, hemorrhoid, palpitation, hypertension, atherosclerosis, arthritis, as well as obesity.

The extinction of Sai (Phom Nang seaweed) in Koh Yo was reported by fishermen having been selling Phom Nang spicy salad to the visitors around Leam Por temple almost 20 years. They revealed that Phom Nang seaweed nowadays cannot be found in the lake or nearby. Hence, they have to order it from Pattani in higher price. They further predict that Yam Sai seaweed might really extinct from Koh Yo.

To preserve Phom Nang seaweed, the main ingredient of Yam Sai, Academic Services Unit, RMUTSV, therefore, has extremely cultivated Phom Nang seaweed in the fishery floating baskets sized 3 x 3 meters by using a method called “Hanging-long line” providing the seaweed’s holding-platform. It grows well in both deep and shallow sea areas, as it weight can increase up to 2-3 times of its original weight.

Considering its features, it has large lines and beautiful color. The factor affecting to the well growth of the seaweed is the release of food wastes from white-sea bass farming in Koh Yo. That is to say, cultivating seaweed together with white-sea bass framing can reduce the rate of waste water in the sea.

In addition, it can be noticed that many marine larvae such as shrimp and fish live in the clump of seaweed, indicating that this cultivating method is suitable for the growth of seaweed. For this reason, the method can help develop and promote Koh Yo agriculturists to cultivate Phom Nang seaweed in order to conserve Yam-Sai-Koh-Yo to be the local heritage of the natives forever.
